Twenty One Pilots independently released their second studio album, ‘Regional at Best’, 5 years ago, on the 8th July 2011.
The album features some of their most famous songs, such as, ‘Car Radio’, ‘Holding on to You’ and ‘Guns for Hands’, which were later rereleased on their third studio album, ‘Vessel’, when they signed to American record label, Fueled By Ramen.
Twenty One Pilots originate from Colombus, Ohio and formed in 2009. Prior to the duo we know as Tyler Joseph and Josh Dun, there were two past members, but they left the band in mid 2011 due to busy schedules.
Before being signed to Fueled By Ramen, the band had independently released two studio albums, ‘Twenty One Pilots’ and ‘Regional at Best’. In late 2011, the duo played a sold out hometown show which attracted dozens of record labels.
In early 2012, Twenty One Pilots announced that they had been signed to Fueled By Ramen.
Since their signing to a record label, the band have had an incredible amount of success. From releasing numerous music videos to touring with Fall Out Boy on their Save Rock and Roll arena tour, as well as performing at a variety of festivals throughout 2014.
However, the release of ‘Blurryface’, the duo’s fourth studio album, is when Twenty One Pilots truly started receiving the recognition they deserve. Although not the first single released from the album, ‘Stressed Out’ was the song that took off. The song peaked at number 2 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100.
This year, the band have won multiple awards, including, the Billboard Music Awards ‘Top Rock Artist’ and ‘Top Rock Album’.
The two-piece are currently on the Emotional Roadshow World tour, which began in Cincinnati on the 31st May 2016. The tour will continue throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, Europe and Australia. The setlist for the tour includes songs from all of their albums, including ‘Regional at Best’.
Most recently, the band have announced that their song, ‘Heathens’, will be part of the soundtrack for the upcoming film, ‘Suicide Squad’.
