A heated debate about race has reared its head after Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade introduced the young lady that their young nephew and future basketball star, Dahveon Morris, is dating.
It is prom season, and Gabrielle was happy to share a few pictures and videos of Dahveon looking elegant in a black suit with his date wearing a stunning black gown.
Dahveon’s proud mother, Deanna Morris, also posed for pictures to celebrate the significant milestone. Dwyane, who gained custody of Dahveon when he was 12 years old, looked delighted to witness the happy moment.
Many members of the African-American community are upset that Dahveon is dating a white girl.

This Instagram user said race should not be discussed in a post about two happy teenagers going to prom and added: “See how normal rich ppl do prom y’ all got all of you mommas spending savings and doing title loans 🤧🥴🥴🥴🥴I can’t believe ya’ll focus on the color of her skin this is 2019, she is a girl going to prom with her date, simple, leave the race card out of these horrible comments.”
This woman had this to say: “If it were white people hating on a white boy for taking a black girl, it would be so awful. Why does it matter if she is white and he’s black? I think they both look great! 🙄🙄Anyone in the comments complaining about the color of her skin is racist. Please don’t try to act like you’re not. If you don’t like the fact that she is a different ethnicity/race you are apart of the problem in this country and around the world.”

A defender of the family claimed: “Too many people see race in this photo when they should see two HAPPY teens about to go to prom! Racism is taught! Stop adding to the problem people smh and feeling sorry for every individual hating on kids going to prom based on race and trying to teach our kids to do better?
