Megan Thee Stallion celebrated her latest “Hiss” record hitting the top of the charts with a fun night in with friends on Instagram Live.
The Houston Hottie, 28, took to her account Monday night in a “Hiss” t-shirt and boy shorts to revel in the song debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. It follows her 2020 No. 1 records, “WAP” with Cardi B and “Savage (Remix)” with Beyoncé. “Hiss” is Meg’s first chart topper as a solo artist. She follows Lauryn Hill and Nicki Minaj to become the third female rap artist to debut at the top of the chart. She also topped Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and Hot Rap Songs charts.
“What can I say?” she repeated on Live to her fans before thanking them for supporting her career though its peaks and valleys. She also let it be known that she paid for the production of both “Cobra” and “Hiss”, as well as their music videos and any other expenses pertaining to the tracks, out of pocket.
“The main thing to say is thank you…Yall know I was going through it at a point in life and I couldn’t put out music and blah blah blah…but there was no labels paying for my sh*t,” she revealed. “When I say I went in Megan Pete bank account, and paid for ‘Cobra’ and ‘Hiss’?”
“This is my first time since my mama been alive that I carried the weight of paying for my whole sh*t. We did that! We didn’t have no help…I just want y’all to know how grateful I am always.”
She was later seen on the Live sipping Hennessy with a straw, something she’s done before and was criticized for by Nicki Minaj on her “Big Foot” diss record. Meg also previewed a new song titled “Toxic” and twerked with her friends looking on to celebrate the success of “Hiss” check out the snippet and Megan turning up below.
